Danbury Ridge Wine Estate asked PGSO to survey the estate and its buildings from the air.
The survey combined high-resolution aerial photography, 360-degree capture and thermal imaging across both the buildings and the surrounding land. Thermal imaging is usually associated with buildings, but over open ground it reads just as clearly: bare soil shows warm, established vegetation shows cool, ground holding water shows cooler still, and buildings appear as distinct hot spots against all of it.
For an estate that is part working landscape and part built environment, that gives two things at once. The buildings can be assessed for heat loss and the condition of roofs and structures, while the wider site shows variation in ground moisture and growth that would be difficult to see from ground level.
This is the same equipment and method used on commercial roof, facade and plant surveys, applied to a rural estate.
Interesting to see the heat differences between 1 farm plot to another. Showing vegetation growth (cooler) bare soil (hotter), areas that have water are cooler, and the houses that are hot spots.
