DRONE survey of a roof - London

A roof condition survey records the state of a roof and everything on it, so that repair and replacement can be planned rather than reacted to. PGSO surveys coverings, flashings, upstands, parapets, rainwater outlets and gutters, rooflights, and any plant or equipment mounted at roof level.

Most roofs fail slowly and then suddenly. Blocked outlets, split laps, failed sealant around penetrations and ponding water all develop quietly, and the first anyone knows is water coming through a ceiling. A survey catches those while they are still a repair rather than a replacement.

We capture most roofs by drone, which means no scaffolding, no cherry picker and no roof access permit, and a permanent photographic record of condition at the date of survey. Where a closer look is needed, aerial capture is combined with a physical inspection.

Findings are reported with priorities and indicative timescales, so the roof can be built into a lifecycle and capital plan alongside the rest of the building services.
